Northeast Contractors, Inc. completed site work for the new Hartford Public Safety Complex in Hartford, CT. This project constructed a new 4 story building with a footprint of about 50,000 square feet, as well as a 2 level parking garage with a footprint of about 25,000 square feet, both located within a 6-acre plot of land in a tight urban neighborhood. This was a complicated project site due to the proximity to the main Amtrak rail line serving Hartford that bordered the property, as well as the presence of approximately 7,000 tons of contaminated soil that required removal from the site.
The new parking garage was constructed 1 story below grade immediate adjacent to Walnut Street, a heavily traveled neighborhood road, requiring extensive shoring while constructing the garage foundations. Also included in the site work were many new underground utilities, as well as new sidewalks, curbing, parking lots, and a modular retaining wall that extended the entire length of the property running parallel with the Amtrak rail line.
The project had a duration of 36 months, and the overall project budget was approximately $85 Million Dollars with the final site work value of $6.5 Million Dollars.
